| Plastic parts can be provided
using a wide variety of molding methods. Molding
is very much like casting in that molten material,
plastic, is forced into a mold. At Callisto, we
can provide plastic components manufactured by injection
molding, blow molding and extrusion. Injection molding
is very similar to die casting in that molten plastic
is forced into a metallic die and held into position
until the plastic solidifies. Our injection molding
capabilities include every facet of production,
from simple parts to high quality, complex parts
made from a wide range of materials. Other methods
of molding include blow molding and extrusion molding.
Blow molding is similar to the injection molding
process. However, in this method, compressed air
is forced into the die blowing the molten plastic
against the cavity wall. Once the plastic solidifies,
hollow parts are ejected from the mold. This method
is used to form items such as wheels. Extrusion
molding is also similar, but rather than trapping
molten plastic in a sealed die, the plastic exits
an extrusion die in a continuous form which are
cut to length in a secondary operation. |
